Fish of the Mill Pond

This page summarizes data available on the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) "Lake Information Report" page for Gervais Mill Pond.  Read the entire report on the DNR's Lakefinder site: www.dnr.state.mn.us/lakefind.

The DNR's description of the Mill Pond as a fishing site:

Gervais Mill Pond is a small kid's fishing pond located in Little Canada.  The fish population is made up of small panfish and bullheads.  Bluegills and black bullheads are the two most abundant species in the pond.  The bluegills average 4.0 inches and black bullheads average 5.5 inches.  Black crappies are also present, but in low numbers.  Other species present include: carp, golden shiners, hybrid sunfish, white suckers, yellow bullheads, and yellow perch.  The pond is stocked in the fall with adult bluegills and black crappies when they are available.  Adult northern pike were stocked in December [of 2002].

The latest data available on the DNR's page dates from 2005.  According to it, the pond is stocked with Bluegill and Black Crappie every year.  In 2001, more than 4,000 very young (fry) Largemouth Bass were stocked, and 25 adult Northern Pike were placed in 2002.

There is no boat access to the ponds, and fishing is allowed from fishing piers only.
