Wildlife
Fauna
The park is home to a healthy variety of wildlife.
The Department of Natural Resources stocks the ponds with fish. Songbirds and waterfowl
nest in the park; herons and other birds feed off of the fish. At least a two species of
turtles live in the ponds, as well as mammals such as beavers and muskrats. Deer are
frequently seen at the ponds. Raccoons and possums are less frequently seen, but are
present. A red fox has been seen.
As of May 2008, birders have listed 90 species of birds at the ponds. See the Birds
link for details and photographs.
Information from the DNR's Gervais Millpond Lake Report is summarized on the Fish page.
Flora
At least twenty-one different species of trees have been identified at the park. The
watershed district publishes checklists of plants found at the ponds, and in its summer edition
lists and presents photographs of fourteen species.

to—the trees of the park.
